🥍 Guild Wars 2 Flying Mounts
Hey everyone, here is a guide to all 40 Mastery Insights available in the Mastery Insights tab in your Path of Fire achievements. This only counts the ones that you can interact, not those mastery points on the map that are part of puzzles/other achievements. Most of them are pretty easy to find, a few are tricky.
Griffon is a secret mount in Guild Wars 2’s latest expansion, Path of Fire. There’s a list of tasks you need to perform if you want it, and it’s pretty hard to find. Riding it is the closest you can get to flying. We’ve gathered all the info we could find on it, so we could write a GW2 Griffon secret mount guide.
Save it for last, unless you really want a 2-person mount with cannons. Griffon is an absolute blast once you get the hang of flying. It's far and away the fastest mount in the game, and you can pull off some really fun and fancy maneuvers in the process. Skyscale is arguably the "best" mount, simply by sheer practicality.
The mounts in "Guild Wars 2" are known for being some of the best in the MMO genre. Each mount in the game fulfills a different role, and they all feel distinct from each other.
Mounts are like flying movability skills. With Pof, the use of gliding was kept in mind as a possibility. I see actually a few options. One you get the same movability in cantha either through New mounts or new mechanics. Two: PoF is included freely just like HoT is included with PoF now.
There are tradeskill flying mount rewards later in the timeline. You can also buy a low/no cost flying mount from the armor equipment dealer in the planes of power and later expansions. Those are the dealers that bring you up to the minimum level equipment to fight in the zone basically for free.
You can get a raptor, springer and the turtle by playing through end of dragons. However, you will not be able to level up the mount masteries for the raptor or springer without playing path of fire. 11. Spectre1990. OP • 1 yr. ago.
For the Skycale you need SotO or LW Season 4, while for the Griffon you need PoF. The wiki should easily tell you their unlock conditions. Just be aware of that even though they both can fly, they can't just freely fly around, both have their own types of restrictions. the main differences are that the Skyscale is rather slow but can hover in the air, while the Griffon is more difficult to
I don't remember where I heard it but they mentioned there would not be any flight in Guild Wars 2 at all. The reason being, if you can just fly over everything, the land and monuments lose their scale and meaning. Flying really devalues the traveling experience. That aside, with map travel, I dont really see a need for flying mounts.
Yes, you can. I got my raptor at level 10 or something. All you need is a level 80 character to take the low level character through the first few PoF missions. I don’t remember if I had to be on the PoF story, but I’m sure you can figure that out along the way. Just make sure your low level friend is near you when you start the PoF mission.
After that you can go for Beetle or for one of the flying mounts (or turtle, I guess) as you see fit. Outside of the progression, most mounts have a clear use case: there is no best mount, there's a best mount for the particular thing you're doing. The only exception is that Raptor and Jackal kinda overlap in their niche, with only sand portals

After you obtain the saddle, Gorrik will suggest investigating a number of reality rifts to get used to flying with your skyscale, while at the same time assisting his research. You will have to travel to 27 maps and close one rift on each. After completing this collection you will unlock your Skyscale.
